Green Monkey

According to a report by CNBC, the first time Green Monkey raced, he ran an eighth of a mile in just under 9.8 seconds. Green Monkey (February 4, 2004 – May 2018) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse, and a descendant of both Northern Dancer and Secretariat. Green Monkey was sold in 2006 as a two-year-old colt for the highest price ever paid at auction for a Thoroughbred. $16,000,000 at current value.

Northern Dancer was a Thoroughbred who in 1964 became the first Canadian-bred horse to win the Kentucky Derby. Northern Dancer is considered a Canadian icon, and was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in 1965. The Blood-Horse ranked him as one of the top 100 U.S. Thoroughbred racehorses of the 20th century.

Secretariat was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who, in 1973, became the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years. Secretariat's victory in the Belmont Stakes is regarded as one of the greatest races in history. Secretariat was nominated to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1974.
